At Starlink’s Austin headquarters, Elon Musk hosted the IGF USA 2025 delegation for a wide-ranging conversation on India, innovation and the next era of frontier technologies. He outlined how Starlink can help connect every corner of the world, particularly India's remotest regions by expanding high-speed satellite connectivity. He also shared his vision of a future shaped by AI, where energy becomes the defining currency of global competitiveness.

Sam Altman Bets Big on India

In San Francisco, the delegation met OpenAI CEO Sam Altman at the company’s headquarters for an in-depth dialogue on the future of artificial intelligence, regulation and talent. Altman described India as “one of our biggest partners”, with the country being key to OpenAI’s long-term vision and its AI-for-countries programme.

The session also spotlighted the opportunity for India to move from IT services to building AI capabilities for the world.

Perspectives from One of Silicon Valley’s Earliest Builders

The IGF USA 2025 delegation also met Ram Shriram, one of Silicon Valley’s most respected early-stage investors, an early backer of Google, and the founder of Sherpalo Ventures. He shared candid reflections on backing founders at the earliest stages, the evolution of Silicon Valley over the decades, and how Indian talent and capital can play a larger role in building globally relevant companies that scale well beyond their home markets.

VISITS TO FRONTIER COMPANIES

Across Texas and California, delegates visited companies at the cutting edge of computing, biotech, and drone technology. A behind-the-scenes tour of Tesla’s Gigafactory showcased engineering excellence and automation, while a briefing with Dell Technologies’ senior leadership explored the next wave of digital transformation.

Founding Google investor Ram Shriram and onsite R&D visits to Conception, Saildrone and PsiQuantum immersed the delegation in frontier innovation – from breakthroughs in stem-cell science and in-vitro gametogenesis, to renewable-powered ocean drones gathering real-time defence and climate data, and efforts to build the world’s first fault-tolerant quantum computer.
